The downstream segment includes the ethoxylation of alkylphenols to produce surfactants and specialty chemicals, which are widely used in detergents, coatings, lubricants, plastics additives, pesticides, and industrial cleaning formulations, although regulatory restrictions in some regions (e.g., EU) are gradually reducing their use due to environmental concerns.
