Xeno-free medium (XF) refers to a medium whose final product and primary raw materials contain no non-human animal-derived components and do not use recombinant proteins expressed using non-human animal DNA sequences. However, key recombinant cytokines (bFGF, TGF-β) still rely on European and American manufacturers, accounting for 25-30% of material costs, and are the focus of the next stage of domestic substitution.
