The supply chain begins upstream with silica precursors such as sodium silicate or tetraethyl orthosilicate, along with solvents (ethanol, methanol) and catalysts; midstream production involves sol–gel processing, aging, and drying (often supercritical or ambient pressure drying) to form aerogel structures, followed by integration into foam composites or blankets through reinforcement with polymers or fibers; downstream, the material is fabricated into panels, rolls, or molded components and distributed to end users including energy infrastructure companies, building insulation suppliers, EV manufacturers, and industrial equipment providers, where performance advantages such as low density, fire resistance, and superior thermal insulation drive adoption.
