The MU connector is a small-form-factor fiber optic connector whose name is derived from Miniature Unit and is also commonly known as Mini SC. Its core function is to provide fast plug-in and plug-out connection, precise fiber alignment, and low-loss optical transmission in communication equipment, distribution systems, test instruments, and high-density optical interconnect environments. The product typically uses a push-pull latching structure and a 1.25 mm ceramic or zirconia ferrule. MU connectors can be used with single-mode and multimode fibers and can be supplied in PC and APC end-face versions. APC connectors use an 8-degree angled end face to reduce reflection and are suitable for single-mode links requiring higher return loss performance. Products are usually delivered as connectors, adapters, pigtails, patch cords, and internal equipment interconnect components. Major applications include telecom transmission, broadband access, data centers, DWDM systems, storage networks, CATV networks, and test and measurement equipment. Customers include optical communication equipment manufacturers, network integrators, telecom operators, data center owners, and instrument manufacturers.
