Imazapic technical is a selective herbicide technical material belonging to the imidazolinone class; it is primarily used to control gramineous weeds, sedges, and certain broadleaf weeds. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting acetolactate synthase (ALS/AHAS) within the plant, thereby blocking the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids—such as valine, leucine, and isoleucine—which in turn inhibits cell division and protein synthesis, ultimately leading to weed mortality. This product exhibits strong systemic activity, capable of being absorbed through the roots, stems, and leaves, and also possesses a certain degree of residual soil activity.
The upstream segment of the industry chain primarily comprises fine chemical materials, including imidazolinone intermediates, pyridine-based chemical raw materials, solvents, and catalysts. The downstream segment focuses mainly on weed control applications in crops such as peanuts, sugarcane, and soybeans, as well as in non-cultivated areas, targeting gramineous weeds, sedges, and select broadleaf weeds; end-users include farms, agricultural cooperatives, and agricultural supply distribution channels.
