Tool Steel for Injection Molding refers to special tool steel used to manufacture plastic injection molds, including mold cavities, cores, inserts, sliders, guide components, hot-runner plates and structural mold plates. It usually includes pre-hardened plastic mold steels such as P20, 1.2311, 1.2738 and 718; corrosion-resistant stainless mold steels such as S136, 1.2083, 1.2316 and 420 series; high-polish mold steels such as NAK55 and NAK80; and hot-work or high-strength grades such as H13 and 1.2344 for demanding molding conditions. Compared with ordinary structural steel, this type of steel requires better machinability, polishability, dimensional stability, toughness, thermal fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and texturing performance, so that injection molds can achieve long service life, stable cavity accuracy, good surface quality and consistent mass production performance for automotive parts, electronics housings, medical plastics, packaging components and precision engineering plastic products.

Business opportunities are concentrated in pre-hardened mold steel, corrosion-resistant stainless mold steel, mirror-polish NAK/S136-type steel, high-cleanliness ESR steel, large-section mold blocks and customized cut-to-size services. Growth is moderate but stable, with higher margins in high-end molds for transparent parts, medical-grade plastics, optical components, multi-cavity packaging molds and engineering plastic components.
