Submerged Arc Electric Furnace Equipment (SAFE) is a core piece of equipment in the metallurgical industry for reduction smelting via electrothermal processes. The electrode system typically uses self-baking electrodes, which sinter and are continuously consumed during the high-temperature smelting process, eliminating the need for frequent replacement. The power supply system relies on a dedicated submerged arc furnace transformer to convert high-voltage grid power into low-voltage, high-current process power to meet the demands of high-intensity smelting. Depending on the type of furnace opening closure, submerged arc furnaces can be classified into open, semi-enclosed, and fully enclosed types. Among them, fully enclosed furnaces have become the mainstream choice for new projects in the industry due to their comprehensive advantages, such as efficient recovery of smelting tail gas (carbon monoxide) for power generation or chemical synthesis and reduction of pollutant emissions.
