On the transmit side, they provide high-speed modulator driving, laser driving, bias control and electro-optical interface matching; on the receive side, they perform transimpedance amplification, linear or limiting amplification, equalization and low-noise signal conversion. They also include silicon photonics control, bias and monitoring functions such as DAC/ADC outputs, heater control, MPD monitoring, current and voltage sensing, multi-I/O configuration and bias management. Typical product forms include TIAs, linear TIAs, modulator drivers, laser drivers, silicon photonics drivers, bias and monitoring management circuits, DSP-integrated AFE blocks, light-engine-integrated AFEs and optical I/O chiplet-integrated AFEs.
