According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Recycled Silicon Carbide market size was valued at US$ 26.44 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 55.93 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 11.2% during review period.
Recycled silicon carbide refers to silicon carbide materials recovered or regenerated from SiC-containing production residues, off-specification powders, crystal-growth remnants, semiconductor wafer-slicing or grinding slurry, spent abrasives, used refractory products, kiln furniture, technical ceramic waste, and other industrial materials containing recoverable silicon carbide. These feedstocks are processed through combinations of inspection and sorting, dewatering and deoiling, crushing, grinding, screening, particle-size classification, magnetic separation, flotation, centrifugation, acid or alkaline washing, thermal treatment, oxidation, chemical purification, surface modification, granulation, or briquetting. The purpose of these processes is to remove metals, free silicon, free carbon, oxides, binders, cutting fluids, and other contaminants and to produce a reusable material with defined SiC content, particle-size distribution, moisture level, chemical purity, and application-specific performance. Commercial products may be supplied as recycled SiC powder, micropowder, grain, grit, aggregate, granules, briquettes, or high-purity feedstock for applications including refractories, metallurgical additives, abrasive and polishing materials, industrial ceramics, thermal-management materials, and silicon carbide crystal growth.
Recycled silicon carbide is fundamentally a materials-regeneration industry rather than a conventional waste-disposal activity. Its commercial value is created by converting heterogeneous SiC-bearing residues into specification-controlled industrial feedstock with defined SiC content, particle-size distribution, moisture, impurity levels, and application performance. The market covers a broad quality spectrum, ranging from wet or lower-grade recovered material and refractory or metallurgical grains to purified industrial powders and high-purity crystal-growth feedstock. Each segment requires a different processing chain and supports a different economic model. Refractory and metallurgical products are generally produced through sorting, crushing, thermal treatment, and impurity reduction, whereas semiconductor-slurry recycling requires the separation of silicon carbide from silicon particles, cutting fluids, and other process materials. High-purity routes add substantially tighter controls over metals, oxygen, free carbon, and free silicon, together with batch traceability and customer qualification. NIKOM represents the established independent-recycler model, producing and trading secondary SiC powder and reporting approximately 9,000 tonnes of annual SiC-waste recovery capacity. Elifa and Semisils demonstrate the commercial recovery of silicon carbide from semiconductor slicing slurry, although their facilities also recover other materials and service revenues that must be separated from SiC product sales. The USGS estimates that approximately 5% of silicon carbide is recycled, but this figure includes captive reuse and non-merchant material circulation; it should therefore not be interpreted as the penetration rate of the third-party recycled-SiC market.
