The carbon slider is the main component of the electric train and the key part of the pantograph. The quality of the carbon slider directly affects the power supply and operational safety of the entire train. The railway pantograph slider can be divided into single-arm bows and double-arm bows. Both are composed of sliders, upper frames, lower arm rods (lower frame for double-arm bow), underframes, bow springs, transmission cylinders, support insulators, etc. . The slider is a component that directly contacts the contact wire and receives current. It is one of the pantograph"s wearing parts and has a limited replacement cycle. At present, the main types of sliders used in China are pure carbon sliders, metal-immersed carbon sliders and powder metallurgy sliders. Among them, pure carbon sliders and metal-impregnated carbon sliders have become special slides for high-speed trains and other trains with speeds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour due to their good wear resistance, electrical conductivity, protection of contact lines, and resistance to variable weather.
In railway, electric locomotives and urban light rails are mainly used. Among them, two pantographs are generally installed on electric locomotives. In normal operation, only the rear bow is raised, and the front bow is used for backup.
