According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Quartz Used in Semiconductor Components market size was valued at US$ 631 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 998 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 6.8% during review period.
Quartz Used in Semiconductor Components scope mainly includes quartz tubes, quartz rods, quartz ingots, quartz plates, quartz blocks, quartz cylinders/hollows, quartz discs and other semi-finished quartz geometries. These materials are subsequently cut, ground, machined, welded, polished or otherwise fabricated into process tubes, boats, wafer carriers, pedestals, liners, rings, injectors, windows, shower plates and other semiconductor quartz components.
The materials are predominantly high-purity SiO₂ and can be produced from either high-purity natural quartz raw material or synthetic silica precursors. Semiconductor-grade quartz requires very low concentrations of metallic and alkali impurities, low bubble and inclusion levels, high material homogeneity, high thermal stability, low thermal expansion, good chemical resistance and tight dimensional tolerances.
Market Drivers
1. The primary driver is the continued expansion of global semiconductor wafer-fabrication capacity and semiconductor equipment installations. Semiconductor manufacturing involves numerous high-temperature, vacuum, plasma and chemically aggressive processes, including diffusion, oxidation, CVD, ALD, annealing and etching. Quartz base materials are indispensable feedstock for producing furnace tubes, wafer carriers, boats, pedestals, process liners and other components used in these tools. Heraeus specifically identifies quartz tubes for CVD, diffusion and annealing equipment, while quartz ingots and plates are used for both batch and single-wafer processing systems. As semiconductor fabs continue adding 300-mm capacity, demand for large-diameter and tightly controlled quartz tubes, ingots and plates also increases.
2. A second major growth driver is the transition toward advanced semiconductor nodes and increasingly stringent contamination control. Advanced logic, DRAM and 3D NAND production involves a growing number of deposition and etching steps, while shrinking device dimensions make the manufacturing process increasingly sensitive to trace metallic contamination, particles and alkali impurities. This raises demand for ultra-high-purity natural fused quartz and, particularly at the high end, synthetic fused silica with ppb-class impurity levels. For example, Heraeus supplies synthetic semiconductor quartz characterized by ppb-class purity and zero-bubble material, while Momentive's 021 grade synthetic quartz reaches purity above 99.9999% SiO₂ for ultra-high-purity semiconductor applications.
3. A third driver is the combination of higher process temperatures, larger wafer sizes, longer process cycles and more demanding plasma environments. These trends raise requirements for quartz materials with better dimensional stability, lower sagging, improved thermal endurance and consistent surface quality. At the same time, semiconductor equipment OEMs are demanding larger-diameter tubes, larger ingots and more precisely controlled plates and rods. Quartz rods, for example, are extensively used to fabricate wafer boats, carriers and pedestals, while plates are converted into windows, gas-distribution plates, shower plates, susceptors and wafer carriers. This trend increases both the technical value and average selling price of high-end semiconductor-grade quartz materials.
