It is designed to reduce the high-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by DC motors and other electrical devices, as well as to protect them from external EMI.
The power line choke is essentially an inductor, consisting of a coil of wire wound around a core material such as iron or ferrite. The choke is inserted in series with the DC motor power supply line, effectively creating a low-pass filter that attenuates high-frequency EMI.
