Portable fluorescence dissolved oxygen meter works based on the principle of fluorescence quenching. It uses fluorescent material as a sensor. When the blue light emitted by the LED light source shines on the fluorescent material, the fluorescent material will be excited and release red light. Since oxygen molecules have a quenching effect and can take away the energy when the fluorescent material releases red light, the time of red light release is inversely proportional to the concentration of oxygen molecules. By measuring the time of red light release or its phase difference with the reference light, and comparing it with the internal calibration value, the instrument can calculate the concentration of oxygen molecules dissolved in water.
