According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Plasma Cooling Technology market size was valued at US$ 43.59 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 199 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 25.2% during review period.
Plasma cooling technology is an emerging thermal management technology that utilizes the physical and chemical properties of plasma to achieve temperature control. Its concept encompasses two main application dimensions: cooling material surfaces using plasma itself, i.e., "plasma-induced cooling," and achieving system heat dissipation through plasma-assisted airflow or heat exchange, i.e., "plasma-driven cooling."
Regarding plasma-induced cooling, its core mechanism breaks with conventional understanding—although plasma carries enormous energy, it can induce transient cooling of material surfaces. Research shows that when pulsed plasma acts on a material surface, the bombardment of photons and charged particles excites the desorption of adsorbed species on the surface, a process similar to "evaporative cooling" in the human body. As plasma "tears" the adsorbed molecules away from the surface, it carries away energy, causing the surface temperature to drop by several degrees Celsius within microseconds. This transient cooling effect provides a completely new approach for controlling localized hotspots in precision electronic devices.
The primary driver of market growth stems from the contradiction between the continuously rising power consumption of AI computing and the miniaturization of devices. Traditional micro fans face limitations in ultra-thin structures due to thickness, noise, vibration, bearing life, and air intake space. EHD/plasma cooling, on the other hand, relies on an electric field to directly drive air, eliminating the need for mechanical blades. Therefore, it has strong differentiated value in scenarios such as ultra-thin laptops, Mini PCs, and NVIDIA Jetson. Ventiva has already conducted laptop platform verification with Dell, Intel, and Compal, while Ionic Wind AG has launched its first batch of early adopter cooling modules for NVIDIA Jetson.
The second growth direction comes from localized hotspot cooling. In the future, plasma cooling may not necessarily replace the entire server or chassis's air-cooling system first; it is more likely to first address "thermal orphan" areas such as VRMs, SSDs, NICs, memory, and edge accelerators, which are difficult for traditional airflow to reach. Ventiva has already demonstrated EHD cooling for NIC and SSD modules in data center scenarios, while YPlasma has explicitly proposed using ultra-thin DBD actuators directly mounted near server motherboards, GPU clusters, or localized heat sources to improve interface convection efficiency.
The third trend is the upgrade from a single "ion wind generator" to a complete intelligent thermal management module. Commercial products are increasingly integrating high-voltage drive, power management, temperature sensing, closed-loop control, and pollution monitoring, rather than selling electrode structures separately. Ventiva ICE9 has already incorporated intelligent control and dust monitoring functions; YPlasma Y-Flow supports real-time adjustment of voltage, frequency, and duty cycle, and achieves hotspot zone control through a multi-actuator array. Future competitive barriers will gradually expand from simple plasma physics to electrode lifespan, ozone suppression, EMI/EMC, high-voltage safety, control algorithms, material reliability, and overall system integration.
