Photopolymer printing plates are usually made of a polymer material as a base material and a corresponding photosensitive compound. These polymer materials and photosensitive compounds will undergo a photochemical reaction under the irradiation of ultraviolet light or visible light, causing the molecules to cross-link and form an insoluble or infusible network structure. During the platemaking process, the photosensitive part of the photopolymer printing plate will undergo a photochemical reaction after exposure, while the properties of the unexposed part remain unchanged. Through appropriate solvent treatment, the unexposed part can be dissolved, leaving a relief-like printing plate. In this way, the text and image on the printing plate can be transferred to the substrate to complete the printing process.
There are many types of photopolymer printing plates, which can be classified according to different standards. For example, from the perspective of physical state and use, they can be divided into two categories: solid and liquid. Solid photopolymer printing plates are flat, prefabricated solid photosensitive plates before platemaking, such as photosensitive nylon plates, photosensitive cellulose plates, etc.; while liquid photopolymer printing plates are viscous, transparent liquids before exposure, such as photosensitive resin plates, etc., which solidify into printing plates after exposure.
