A Passive Crossover is an analog loudspeaker crossover network that divides a full-range audio signal into separate frequency bands (such as low, mid, and high frequencies) using passive electronic components—including inductors (coils), capacitors, and resistors—without requiring an external power supply. Installed between the power amplifier and the loudspeaker drivers, passive crossovers direct each frequency range to the appropriate woofer, midrange, or tweeter while providing impedance matching, phase alignment, and driver protection. They are widely used in home audio speakers, professional loudspeakers, automotive audio systems, and commercial installed sound systems due to their simplicity, reliability, and low cost. The supply chain begins with raw material suppliers providing copper wire, ferrite and laminated steel cores, aluminum electrolytic film, polypropylene film, ceramic dielectric materials, resistive alloys, printed circuit boards (PCBs), solder, connectors, and plastic or metal enclosures. Component manufacturers produce inductors, capacitors, resistors, terminals, connectors, and PCB assemblies, which are then integrated by passive crossover manufacturers and loudspeaker OEMs into two-way, three-way, or multi-way crossover networks. The finished products are supplied to loudspeaker manufacturers, professional audio system integrators, automotive audio suppliers, and aftermarket audio brands through distributors, OEM channels, and specialized audio equipment retailers before being deployed in consumer, commercial, and industrial audio applications.
