Installed between the valve stem and the stuffing box, it primarily serves to prevent the leakage of high-pressure, high-temperature, or radioactive fluids along the stem, while simultaneously allowing for the stem's reciprocating motion or rotational adjustment.
Upstream materials primarily include high-purity natural flake graphite, expanded graphite, flexible graphite foil, flexible graphite tape, graphite yarn, nickel-based alloy reinforcement filaments, and low-halogen PTFE auxiliary materials. In the production process, high-purity flake graphite typically undergoes intercalation, expansion, and calendering to form flexible graphite foil or tape; this is followed by braiding, molding, slitting, ring formation, assembly, and precision finishing to produce the valve stem packing. For nuclear-grade products, the critical factors are not merely standard sealing capabilities, but rather the control of harmful ions and chlorine/sulfur content, radiation stability, compression and recovery characteristics, stem friction, extrusion resistance, and adherence to nuclear-grade quality assurance systems.
