Force plates, dynamometers and complete robotic systems are included only when the underlying sensor is separately commercialized or when sensor revenue can be reliably separated.

Demand is anchored by industrial robotics, precision assembly, polishing and deburring, insertion, hand-guiding, collision detection and compliant control. Automotive road-load measurement, tire and crash testing, aerospace structural tests, medical robotics and biomechanics provide more stable, higher-price demand. Humanoid robots represent the largest upside variable for 2026–2032, but also the main source of forecast uncertainty. Wrist, ankle and dexterous-hand designs require compact force sensing, yet the eventual mix between six-axis sensors, joint torque sensors, distributed tactile arrays and model-based force estimation remains unsettled. Strain-gauge technology remains the commercial mainstream because it combines mature production, strong static accuracy, broad force ranges and a developed calibration ecosystem. Piezoelectric multi-component sensors retain a defensible position in high-stiffness and high-frequency dynamic measurement. Capacitive and optical architectures are attracting increasing attention because they may reduce part count, support automated calibration and lower the cost of high-volume robotic sensing. Future competition will be determined less by headline accuracy alone and more by the combined performance of cross-talk, thermal drift, overload robustness, bandwidth, size, mass, digital interfaces and software compensation.
