Megawatt Charging Modules are high-power DC power-conversion modules and power cabinets used in Megawatt Charging System (MCS) stations for heavy-duty electric trucks, electric buses, port equipment, mining vehicles, ferries and other large battery-electric assets. Compared with conventional DC fast-charging modules, they require higher output voltage, higher current capability, liquid-cooled charging interfaces, dynamic power allocation, high-efficiency rectification and stronger safety protection, enabling one charging point to deliver around 1 MW or higher power under suitable grid and thermal conditions. In 2025, Global Megawatt Charging Modules sales are estimated at about 750 Units (based on 1MW Module), with an average ex-works price of about 110 K US$/Unit. The value chain runs from power semiconductors, magnetic components, liquid-cooled cables, connectors and control boards to DC power modules, power cabinets, dispensers, charging-station integrators and end users such as electric truck fleets, ports, logistics hubs and ferry operators.
Demand is mainly driven by the electrification of heavy-duty transport, the need to recharge large battery packs within driver rest windows, logistics operators’ pressure to reduce fleet emissions, and the emergence of dedicated truck-charging corridors in Europe, North America and China. The market is still small because MCS standards, grid-connection capacity and e-truck penetration are not yet fully mature, but early deployments by charging-equipment leaders show that the technology is moving from prototype validation to commercial pilot deployment.
