Matte soldering flux is a type of functional liquid flux used in electronic soldering processes, mainly applied in PCB through-hole soldering scenarios such as wave soldering, selective soldering and dip soldering. Its core function is to remove oxides from solder pads, component leads and metal surfaces during soldering, promote solder wetting and spreading, and, through the design of resin systems, activator systems or matting additives, enable solder joints to present a satin, matte or low-reflective appearance after soldering. Compared with conventional glossy fluxes, matte soldering flux places greater emphasis on solder joint appearance consistency, low reflectivity and inspection friendliness. It can reduce reflection interference during automated optical inspection or manual visual inspection, making it suitable for electronic assembly scenarios that require solder joint appearance control, residue reliability and stable batch soldering performance.
Its upstream raw materials mainly include rosin and modified resins, organic acid activators, alcohol-based solvents, surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, matting additives and stabilizers. Downstream applications mainly cover consumer electronics, automotive electronics, industrial control, communication equipment, new energy electronics and other PCB assembly soldering fields. With the wider adoption of lead-free soldering, rising reliability requirements for electronic products and the increasing use of automated inspection, matte soldering flux is facing higher requirements for low residue, low corrosion, halogen-free environmental performance, stable wetting and consistent matte solder joint appearance. As a result, the product is gradually evolving toward no-clean, low-solid, environmentally friendly formulations with stronger process adaptability.
