It is an on-board guidance and construction assistance system for construction machinery, rather than the construction machine itself. Machine Guidance Systems are an important part of intelligent construction machinery and digital jobsite operations. They are mainly used on excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, compactors, drilling rigs, piling machines, and other construction equipment. By combining positioning, attitude sensing, jobsite models, and in-cab display terminals, these systems provide operators with real-time guidance on digging depth, slope, elevation, boundary, drilling position, working path, and deviation from the design surface. By product structure, Machine Guidance Systems are generally divided into 2D Machine Guidance Systems and 3D Machine Guidance Systems. 2D systems are mainly based on tilt sensors, IMUs, depth or slope sensors, and display terminals. They are lower in cost, easier to install, and widely used in trenching, slope shaping, foundation excavation, and general earthmoving work. 3D systems further integrate GNSS/RTK, total station/LPS, laser positioning, 3D construction models, and cloud-based data management, enabling real-time matching between the machine and the digital design surface. They are more suitable for road construction, site grading, mining, water conservancy projects, and large infrastructure projects.
