According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Humic Acid Organic Fertilizer market size was valued at US$ 191 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 316 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 7.4% during review period.
Humic acid organic fertilizer is a solid organic fertilizer manufactured from mineral humic materials such as weathered coal, lignite, peat and leonardite, or from crop residues, livestock manure and food-processing organic materials that have undergone controlled composting and humification. Typical production processes include crushing, activation, fermentation, formulation and granulation. Its principal functional components are humic acid, fulvic acid and stable organic carbon, while selected products also contain nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and secondary or trace nutrients.
The product combines soil-conditioning, nutrient-efficiency and biostimulant functions. It can improve soil aggregation, water and nutrient retention, cation-exchange performance and root development. The statistical scope of this report includes finished powder, granular, pellet and flake products applied directly to soil. It excludes liquid humic products, soluble potassium or sodium humates, humic-coated urea, conventional compound fertilizers and ordinary organic fertilizers without a declared humic acid specification.
Global shipments of humic acid organic fertilizer were approximately 580,000 tonnes in 2025, with an average price of approximately USD320 per tonne and a gross margin of approximately 20% to 30%.
Soil Health And Nutrient Efficiency Drive Market Expansion
Global agricultural inputs are shifting from simply increasing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium application toward improving soil health and nutrient output per unit of input. Declining soil organic matter, salinization and more frequent droughts and floods are increasing demand for products that provide stable organic carbon, nutrient complexation and rhizosphere regulation. Humic acid organic fertilizer can be integrated with conventional compound fertilizers, microbial inoculants and precision-fertilization programs to reduce nutrient losses and improve soil structure without completely replacing mineral fertilizers. This creates substantial growth opportunities in regenerative agriculture, organic cultivation, fertilizer-efficiency programs and farmland-quality improvement.
Market expansion is nevertheless constrained by inconsistent product quality and the need to demonstrate measurable economic returns. Humic substances derived from different mineral and biomass feedstocks vary substantially in molecular structure, biological activity and solubility, meaning that total humic acid content alone may not accurately represent field performance. Heavy metals, soluble salts, moisture, particle size and compost maturity can also affect regulatory compliance and crop safety. The relatively low value density of bulk products increases logistics and distributor inventory costs, while regulatory treatment differs among fertilizers, soil amendments and plant biostimulants. Field performance is also influenced by soil conditions, crop type, dosage and climate, and the market faces substitution from low-cost compost, biochar, microbial fertilizers and soluble humic products.
Downstream demand will combine high-volume field-crop consumption with premium growth in high-value horticulture. Grain and industrial crops will account for most shipment volume, while vegetables, orchards, greenhouse production, nurseries and turf applications will increasingly require high humic acid content, low salinity, low chloride, rapid granule disintegration, uniform particle size and organic-input certification. Suppliers will therefore compete less on declared content alone and more on consistent biological activity, batch traceability, formulation compatibility and local field-performance data. Granular products, formulations combined with NPK nutrients or microorganisms, OEM customization and regional agronomic services are expected to become the principal routes to market growth.
