Midstream manufacturers polymerize styrene in the presence of rubber to produce HIPS resin, followed by compounding and pelletizing into grades with different impact strength, gloss, flowability, and heat resistance. Downstream processors convert the resin into sheets, films, molded parts, and extruded products, which are supplied to packaging, electrical and electronics, medical, automotive, construction, advertising display, and consumer goods industries through global distribution networks.
