According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Gaseous Helium market size was valued at US$ 1235 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 1712 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 4.9% during review period.
Gaseous Helium refers to commercially refined helium gas produced by source manufacturers through recovery, purification and compression from helium-bearing natural gas, nitrogen-rich gas or other helium-containing feed gas sources. It is typically delivered through high-pressure cylinders, tube trailers, bulk gas systems or on-site supply systems, and mainly includes industrial-grade helium, high-purity helium, Grade-A helium and ultra-high-purity helium. The scope excludes liquid helium, crude helium and helium-bearing feed gas. Under ambient conditions, gaseous helium is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable inert rare gas with low density, high thermal conductivity, low chemical reactivity and strong inert protection performance. It is widely used in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, optical fiber production, leak detection, welding shielding, aerospace and high-pressure system testing, analytical carrier gas, diving gas mixtures and lifting gas applications. Major source-producing countries include the United States, Qatar, Algeria, Russia, Canada, Poland and China, with the United States, Qatar, Algeria and Russia remaining the core supply sources in the global commercial helium system. USGS 2026 estimated U.S. sales of Grade-A helium and gaseous helium at 81 million cubic meters in 2025 and global helium production at about 190 million cubic meters.
In 2025, global gaseous helium production reached approximately 105 million to 125 million cubic meters on a standard gaseous-volume basis. Source-level FOB prices were mainly in the range of USD 9.80 to USD 13.80 per cubic meter, with standard industrial gaseous helium near the lower end of the range and Grade-A helium, high-purity helium and semiconductor-grade gaseous helium near the middle to upper end.
Gaseous helium is evolving from a conventional industrial gas into a strategic process gas for advanced manufacturing and critical testing environments. Its value is not limited to inert shielding and low-density properties; it also comes from its stability and limited substitutability in semiconductor processes, electronic specialty gas blending, vacuum leak detection, aerospace fuel and pressure-system testing, optical fiber drawing and high-end analytical instruments. As AI chips, advanced packaging, wafer fabrication, hydrogen equipment, space launch systems and precision instruments continue to expand, demand for high-purity gaseous helium is shifting from welding, lifting gas and general industrial uses toward semiconductors, electronics, aerospace, research and high-reliability industrial testing.
At the same time, the gaseous helium market remains exposed to higher supply risk than most industrial gases. Helium is mainly recovered as a byproduct from natural gas and cannot be economically produced at scale through air separation like oxygen, nitrogen or argon. Supply stability is affected by resource-country concentration, natural gas processing operations, helium extraction and refining capacity, long-term offtake contracts, geopolitical exposure and transportation constraints. USGS 2026 indicates that new helium operations began production in the United States, Canada and South Africa in 2025, but global helium resources remain concentrated in a limited number of countries, including the United States, Qatar, Algeria, Russia, Canada and China. Going forward, semiconductor-grade high-purity gaseous helium, helium for aerospace and hydrogen leak detection, long-term secure supply contracts, non-hydrocarbon helium development and helium recovery systems will be among the most valuable areas for market research across the gaseous helium value chain.
