The greater trend is towards magnetic circuit components moving towards higher μ and lower loss formulations, thinner walls, lightweight designs, and integrated injection molding inserts. At the same time, wireless charging and EMI suppression are increasingly being replaced by flexible ferrite sheets and closed magnetic circuit solutions, causing purely open rod-core inductors to gradually retreat to specific receiving and low-cost choke scenarios.
