According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Data Center Accelerator market size was valued at US$ 117070 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 359430 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 17.6% during review period.
Modern data centers are being transformed to increase networking bandwidth and optimize workloads like artificial intelligence. Data center administrators also expect lower TCO, lower power, and new services. Data centers accelerators are helping customers meet these demands. The data centers accelerators facilitate a significant increase in the performance of these data centers. Moreover, due to resource sharing with the main processor, accelerators and general-purpose processors in data centers consume less power. The growing demand for AI in HPC data centers is driving the market growth. The growth in consumer-generated data and increasing use of AI-based services have propelled the demand for AI-centric data centers. In 2024, global Data Center Accelerator production reached 7,540 k units , with an average global market price of around US$ 12,000 per unit.
Data center accelerators are the core computing units of modern cloud computing and AI infrastructure. They mainly include GPUs, AI-specific ASICs, server CPUs and FPGAs designed for server and data-center scenarios, and are used to accelerate deep-learning training and inference, high-performance computing, cloud gaming, video transcoding, big-data analytics and other compute-intensive workloads. As large-scale model training, generative AI, cloud computing and edge computing evolve rapidly, data centers are placing ever higher demands on compute density and energy efficiency. Accelerators have therefore shifted from an optional configuration to a basic element of new-build data centers, and the overall market is in a high-growth phase clearly driven by rapid technology iteration. From the perspective of product and application structure, GPUs and their derivative AI training/inference cards are currently the main category of data center accelerators. Leveraging powerful parallel floating-point performance and a mature software ecosystem, they dominate large-model training, advanced graphics and general GPGPU workloads. AI-specific ASICs are architecturally optimized around particular operators and dataflows, with stronger emphasis on energy efficiency and total cost of ownership, making them well-suited to large-scale online inference, recommendation systems and cloud providers’ internal platforms. Server CPUs still play the fundamental role for general-purpose computing, virtualization and some lightweight AI inference, acting as the “scheduling hub” for various accelerators. FPGAs and other programmable devices are mainly used for network acceleration, protocol offload, customized data paths and low-latency scenarios. By end-market, internet and cloud service providers are the core demand drivers, followed by finance, telecom, scientific research and government high-performance computing, as well as fast-growing industrial, connected-vehicle and smart-manufacturing cloud scenarios. In terms of regional structure and industry chain, data center accelerators exhibit a pattern of “highly concentrated design and branding, manufacturing heavily dependent on foundries, and ecosystems led by cloud and large internet companies.” Upstream are advanced logic foundries for wafer fabrication, high-bandwidth memory (HBM), high-speed packaging materials and interconnect component suppliers. Midstream are fabless chip designers and IDMs responsible for architecture design, IP integration, software stacks and system-level solutions. Downstream are hyperscale cloud service providers, internet companies, telecom operators and server OEMs, which together constitute the demand and ecosystem center. U.S. companies still dominate high-end GPUs, AI ASICs, server CPUs and network ASICs. Japan, the EU and Taiwan hold advantages in equipment, materials and certain niche chip segments, while mainland China is accelerating its build-out in server systems, internet applications and domestic AI accelerators as import-substitution candidates. From the standpoint of manufacturing and cost structure, data center accelerators belong to a highly capital- and R&D-intensive industry, where advanced-node mask sets, IP licensing, design tools and talent account for a very large share of total cost. For a 12-inch production line at 7 nm and below, the effective single-line capacity for data-center-oriented GPU/AI chips is roughly 60,000–80,000 wafers per year, corresponding to annual accelerator output on the order of several hundred thousand to over one million chips. In the full cost structure, wafer foundry services and packaging/testing typically account for about 40%–60% of total cost, with R&D and depreciation around 25%–35%, and the remainder consisting of software ecosystem investment plus sales and administrative expenses. Benefiting from high technical barriers and strong pricing power, the data center accelerator industry as a whole maintains a gross margin level of roughly 50%. Leading GPU/AI accelerator vendors achieve significantly higher margins than the industry average, while general-purpose CPUs, FPGAs and some network ASICs see somewhat lower but still mid-to-high gross margins. In terms of competitive landscape and development trends, the data center accelerator market is relatively concentrated. Global leaders have built solid technological and ecosystem moats in high-end GPUs, server CPUs, FPGAs and network/storage ASICs, while cloud providers and major internet firms are continuously strengthening their bargaining power and architectural influence over external suppliers by developing in-house AI accelerators and Arm-based server CPUs. On the technology front, continuous advances in leading-edge process nodes, chiplet and 3D packaging, high-bandwidth memory, CXL and high-speed interconnect, and optoelectronic co-packaging are becoming key directions for improving compute density and energy efficiency. On the market side, training workloads drive demand for high-end GPUs and large clusters, whereas inference and online services are spurring wider adoption of high-efficiency ASICs, FPGAs and low-power CPUs. Coupled with geopolitical factors, export controls and localization requirements, the data center accelerator industry is expected to maintain high prosperity while evolving toward a pattern of regionalized supply-chain restructuring and faster domestic substitution under a globally leading technology framework.
