According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Crystalline Silicon & Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell market size was valued at US$ 175 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 1776 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 39.6% during review period.
Crystalline Silicon & Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell are multi-junction photovoltaic devices. By connecting a layer of perovskite (as the "top cell") in series (or in parallel/independently outputting) with a layer of conventional silicon (as the "bottom cell"), the two materials absorb photons of different wavelengths (energy) from sunlight, thus covering a wider spectrum, reducing photon energy waste (thermal loss), and achieving higher photoelectric conversion efficiency than single-junction cells. The top cell typically has a wide bandgap (~1.6-1.8 eV) and is responsible for absorbing visible light/high-energy photons; the bottom cell (silicon) absorbs infrared/low-energy photons. With proper design, the efficiency ceiling of conventional silicon single-junction cells can be broken. Therefore, perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells combine the low-cost manufacturing potential of perovskite materials with the mature and stable foundation of the silicon cell industry chain.
In 2024, global Crystalline Silicon & Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell production reached 348.3 MW, with an average selling price of $0.348/W and a gross profit margin of 29.8%-33.74%. R&D/Commercialization Status:
On September 5, 2024, Oxford PV announced its first shipment of a commercial perovskite tandem module to a US customer, with a 72-cell solar module achieving an efficiency of 24.5%. Oxford PV plans to achieve mass production of perovskite-silicon tandem cells in 2026.
On June 12, 2025, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announced that its independently developed large-area (260.9 cm²) crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell achieved a conversion efficiency of 33%.
In July 2025, Caelux completed its first commercial customer order shipment for its active glass technology, and its current factory has a capacity of 100 MW.
In August 2025, Anhui Huasun Energy Co., Ltd. achieved two breakthroughs in the field of crystalline silicon heterojunction/perovskite tandem solar cells: a laboratory-scale small-size (1cm²) cell efficiency exceeding 34.02%, and a production-scale large-size (210HP) cell efficiency reaching 29.01%.
In November 2025, Tongwei Co., Ltd.'s perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem solar cell product achieved a conversion efficiency exceeding 34.78%.
Perovskite solar cells utilize perovskite-type organometal halide semiconductors as light-absorbing materials and belong to the third generation of solar cells. Third-generation solar cells mainly refer to some new concept cells with high conversion efficiency, such as dye-sensitized cells, quantum dot cells, and organic solar cells, also known as new concept solar cells. Perovskite solar cells have a similar layered structure to traditional photovoltaic cells. They mainly consist of five layers: a transparent conductive substrate, an electron transport layer (ETL), a perovskite light-absorbing layer, a hole transport layer (HTL), and a metal electrode. Perovskite solar cells combine the advantages of first-generation crystalline silicon cells (stability, high efficiency, and low cost) with the high theoretical efficiency and simple fabrication process of second-generation inorganic thin-film solar cells. They utilize low-cost raw materials to achieve higher theoretical efficiency, representing a next-generation solar cell technology that drives efficiency improvement and cost reduction in the photovoltaic industry and opens up long-term market potential. Perovskite solar cells mainly include two technical routes: single-junction and tandem. The theoretical limit photoelectric conversion efficiencies of single-junction and tandem cells are 33% and 44%, respectively, with tandem cells exhibiting significantly higher conversion efficiency compared to crystalline silicon cells. Perovskite tandem cells offer significant efficiency improvements and represent the next stage of development for crystalline silicon. As crystalline silicon module costs drop below 1 yuan/W, the cost-effectiveness logic of single-cell perovskite cells becomes unsustainable. Perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem cells are compatible with existing crystalline silicon production capacity and can be combined with existing HJT and TOPCon routes. Upgrading products can be achieved simply by adding perovskite technology to existing production lines. The resulting tandem modules are expected to achieve efficiencies exceeding 30%, representing a generational difference compared to traditional crystalline silicon. Perovskite solar cell manufacturers, crystalline silicon manufacturers, and equipment manufacturers have reached a consensus on the multilayer technology route, which will become the industry mainstream.
