According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Automotive Glass Black Ceramic Frit market size was valued at US$ 861 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 1388 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 7.1% during review period.
Global sales of automotive glass black ceramic frit reached 22,960 tons in 2025, with an average price of $36,425 per ton.
Automotive glass black ceramic frit refers to a series of black glaze dots or areas on the edges and surface of automotive glass. These are ceramic materials that fuse with the glass after high-temperature firing. Their main functions are to ensure even heating, protect sealing strips, block strong light, and conceal sensors in high-end vehicles, rather than decoration. Furthermore, their manufacturing process is complex, and high-quality black frost cannot be removed.
The "functional powder" of lead-free black glaze accounts for 65–80% of the formula, and is composed of Bi₂O₃-SiO₂-ZnO-B₂O₃ series glass powder (D50≈1.5 µm) and 20–25% inorganic black pigment (Cu-Cr-Mn or Fe-Cr-Co oxides). The organic carrier comprises 17–34%, which is ethyl cellulose/rosin resin dissolved in solvents such as propylene glycol methyl ether acetate, used for screen printing flowability and drying strength. In the overall raw material cost, bismuth oxide and ultrafine black pigment account for more than 60%, organic carrier and microcrystalline additives account for 15%, and the remainder is for energy consumption, labor, and equipment depreciation. Due to the large fluctuations in bismuth prices, the price of commercially available lead-free black glaze paste is still about 20–30% higher than that of lead-containing systems, but it can meet the stringent requirements of acid resistance ≥40 h and thermal expansion coefficient (85–95) × 10⁻⁷ /℃ for complete vehicle assembly.
