Antimony trichloride is then manufactured primarily by the direct chlorination of antimony metal or by reacting antimony trioxide with hydrochloric acid and chlorinating agents under controlled conditions. After purification through distillation or recrystallization to achieve industrial, reagent, or high-purity grades, the product is packaged and distributed through chemical manufacturers and specialty chemical suppliers to downstream industries including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, specialty chemicals, flame retardants, electronics, laboratory chemicals, and research institutions. In 2025, global Antimony Trichloride output was about 160,000 tons with 190,000 tons of capacity, average prices of USD 2,000–5,000 per ton, and gross margins around 22%.
