According to our (Global Info Research) latest study, the global Acyl Chloride market size was valued at US$ 6256 million in 2025 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 8518 million by 2032 with a CAGR of 4.5% during review period.
In 2025, global Acyl chloride output reached about 3.8 million tons and global capacity of around 4.2 million tons. The average price is about USD 1,600 per ton, with gross margins near 25%. Acyl chloride is a highly reactive organic compound containing the functional group R–COCl, in which the hydroxyl group of a carboxylic acid is replaced by a chlorine atom. Owing to their strong electrophilicity, acyl chlorides serve as key intermediates in the production of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes, flavors and fragrances, engineering polymers, surfactants, and specialty chemicals through acylation, esterification, and amidation reactions. The supply chain begins with upstream raw materials such as carboxylic acids (or their derivatives), chlorinating agents including thionyl chloride (SOCl₂), phosphorus trichloride (PCl₃), phosphorus pentachloride (PCl₅), oxalyl chloride, and phosgene-derived reagents, together with chlorine and other basic chemical feedstocks. Midstream manufacturers convert these materials into aliphatic, aromatic, and specialty acyl chlorides via controlled chlorination processes followed by purification and packaging under moisture-free conditions due to their high sensitivity to water. Downstream, acyl chlorides are supplied to pharmaceutical manufacturers, agrochemical producers, polymer and resin manufacturers, dye and pigment companies, electronic chemical suppliers, and research laboratories for the synthesis of high-value organic compounds and advanced materials.
