Summary
The North Western region of Peru is the best performing region. Lima district, Piura and La Libertad together generated 51.3% of Peru’s total GDP and comprised 43.8% of population in 2017.
The overall services contributed (59.1%) to the gross value added (GVA) in 2018, followed by mining, manufacturing and utilities (26.4%). In nominal terms, services and mining, manufacturing and utilities are expected to grow by 6.0% and 4.8%, respectively in 2019
The upward rising trend of the index indicates acceleration of the economic activity in the country. The index rose from 20,667.6 in March 26, 2018 to 21,030.3 in March 26, 2019.
Scope
- As per the World Bank's logistics performance index (LPI), transport and logistic infrastructure in Peru deteriorated in the last two years with decline in rank from 69th in 2016 to 83rd in 2018.
