The alumina support determines properties such as specific surface area, pore volume, pore size distribution, and mechanical strength, serving as the foundation that influences the diffusion of heavy VGO molecules and metal deposition capacity. Active metal systems—such as Ni-Mo, Co-Mo, and Ni-W—determine performance regarding desulfurization, denitrogenation, aromatic saturation, and hydrogen consumption; meanwhile, additives and pore structure designs are employed to balance activity, stability, and resistance to coking and metal contamination. Midstream activities encompass catalyst formulation design, impregnation, extrusion molding, drying, calcination, activation, and loading/grading design. Downstream applications primarily serve VGO hydrotreating, FCC feedstock pretreatment, and hydrocracking pretreatment units at oil refineries.
