    TFMB, or 2,2'-Bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine, is a fluorinated aromatic diamine monomer used mainly in colorless polyimides, transparent flexible PI films, PI varnishes, alignment layers, low-dielectric polymers and high-performance fluorinated polymer systems. Its two trifluoromethyl substituents help reduce charge-transfer interactions and moisture uptake in polyimide chains, enabling improved transparency, dielectric performance, heat resistance and dimensional stability.
    According to our research, TFMB should be treated as a high-value fluorinated aromatic diamine monomer for advanced polyimide materials, not as a general aromatic amine chemical. Its core value comes from the introduction of trifluoromethyl groups into polyimide backbones, which helps improve optical transparency, lower moisture absorption, reduce dielectric properties and maintain thermal stability. This makes TFMB especially important for colorless polyimide films, flexible display substrates, PI varnishes, alignment layers, low-dielectric 5G materials and semiconductor insulation materials.

Colorless polyimide and transparent flexible films remain the most important end-use areas, driven by foldable displays, flexible electronics and optical films.     From a product-quality perspective, TFMB competition is shifting from basic availability to polymerization-grade and electronic-grade consistency.
