TA18 Titanium Alloy refers to a near-alpha titanium alloy with the nominal composition Ti-3Al-2.5V, commercially supplied in semi-finished forms including ingots, slabs, plates, bars, tubes, forgings and wires prior to machining into final components. Global production of TA18 and equivalent grades is highly concentrated in China, the United States, Russia and Japan, with China's Baoji-Xi'an Titanium Valley industrial belt forming the world's largest titanium alloy tube processing cluster, Russia's VSMPO-AVISMA covering CIS and global aerospace markets under the Ti-3Al-2.5V designation, and ATI and RTI of the United States serving North American aerospace and precision industrial supply chains with Grade 9.
TA18 titanium alloy pricing is stratified by product form and certification tier, with aerospace hydraulic-grade seamless tube commanding the highest premium. Cold-worked stress-relieved tube produced to AMS 4945 carries a per-kilogram price significantly above industrial-grade tube and plate due to Nadcap certification and ultrasonic or eddy-current inspection requirements. Industrial-grade tube supplied to ASTM B338 Grade 9 is priced based on sponge titanium cost and cold-work yield, remaining stable over the long term.
