The basic feature is that it has at least 3 fingers, each finger has at least 3 degrees of freedom whose axes are not completely parallel, and usually integrates multiple sensors such as force perception and proximity perception.

The main driving methods of dexterous hands include 4 types: hydraulic drive, motor drive, pneumatic drive, and shape memory alloy drive.
