A reverse brayton refrigeration system is a cryogenic cooling system based on the reversed Brayton cycle, in which high-pressure working gas (typically helium or nitrogen) expands through a high-speed turboexpander under near-isentropic conditions, converting pressure energy into mechanical work and significantly reducing gas temperature. The system consists of compressors, turboexpanders, heat exchangers, and recuperators, and is widely used in LNG, air separation, hydrogen liquefaction, and aerospace cryogenic applications. The reverse brayton refrigeration system industry chain consists of three parts: upstream core component manufacturing, midstream system integration and engineering design, and downstream energy and industrial applications. The upstream mainly includes high-speed turbine expanders, cryogenic bearing systems, high-efficiency heat exchangers, precision compressors, and control systems. Among these, turbine expanders have the highest technological barriers, with leading companies mainly concentrated in Europe, the United States, and Japan. The midstream comprises system integrators and industrial gas companies, responsible for the overall optimization design of multi-stage compression, expansion, and regenerative cycles, and providing EPC engineering delivery services. Downstream applications cover LNG liquefaction and reliquefaction, air separation units (ASU), hydrogen liquefaction and storage, aerospace cryogenic refrigeration, and some scientific research cryogenic systems.
