    PDLC Smart Film is an electrically switchable optical film produced by dispersing liquid-crystal droplets within a polymer matrix and encapsulating the functional layer between transparent conductive substrates. In the unpowered state, randomly oriented liquid-crystal domains scatter incident light and create a frosted, grey or dark privacy condition; when an alternating electric field is applied, the liquid crystals align and the film becomes substantially more transparent. This research focuses on phase-separation PDLC, emulsion or NCAP-type PDLC, and dyed PDLC, DPDLC or PDCLC products supplied as non-adhesive laminating film, self-adhesive retrofit film, raw roll film, cut-to-size film or electrically processed film with busbars and lead wires.     PDLC Smart Film is evolving from standard white privacy film toward lower-haze, wider-temperature, darker and more highly integrated optical products. Conventional clear-to-frosted switching remains the commercial foundation, but customer requirements increasingly emphasise clearer powered-state visibility, reduced off-axis haze, neutral-grey or deep-black privacy, wider rolls, environmental durability and independently controlled zones. Self-adhesive film continues to expand the installed-glass renovation market, while non-adhesive film remains the principal format for factory-laminated smart glass and high-reliability automotive or transportation projects.
