It is effective in the bleaching of wood pulp for papermaking. The substance appears as white crystalline granules or light yellow powder with a bulk density of 0.7-1.0 g/m³, a decomposition point of 300°C, and an ignition temperature of 250°C. It is insoluble in ethanol but dissolves in sodium hydroxide solutions, reacting vigorously with water and potentially causing combustion.
