Gas Nitriding Service is a low-temperature thermochemical surface hardening outsourcing treatment for ferrous metals (alloy steel, tool steel, ductile iron, stainless steel). Parts are heated inside sealed furnaces filled with flowing ammonia (NH₃) mixed with carrier gases at 480–570°C. Ammonia decomposes to release active nitrogen atoms that diffuse into the metal surface, forming a hard, wear-resistant nitride compound layer (white layer) plus a nitrogen-enriched diffusion zone underneath.
Key advantages: ultra-high surface hardness, excellent friction/wear resistance, superior corrosion resistance, minimal dimensional distortion (low processing temperature below austenitizing range), no post-quench warpage. It is widely applied to gears, shafts, hydraulic valve spools, injection mold cores, crankshafts, fasteners, and precision aerospace components.

The main demand driver is the need for high surface hardness with low distortion. Unlike carburizing or conventional hardening, gas nitriding normally does not require quenching, which helps minimize deformation and makes it suitable for precision-machined parts with tight tolerances.
