An EV-charging network is a system of interconnected charging stations, managed by a single company or entity, that allows electric vehicle (EV) drivers to recharge their cars. Similar to gas stations for conventional cars, these networks provide public and private access to charging infrastructure, which can be found at various locations and is often managed through centralized platforms like mobile apps.
The upstream of the electric vehicle charging network industry chain mainly consists of charging equipment component manufacturers providing key components, including power modules, IGBTs, SiC devices, connectors, cables, metering modules, and communication chips and server hardware required for cloud platforms. Additionally, power grid companies provide access to electricity resources, and municipal departments provide land and construction permits for charging stations. The downstream comprises operators, OEMs' energy business units, logistics fleets, public parking lots, shopping malls and real estate groups, and highway service areas. Demand is primarily concentrated in three scenarios: urban public charging, dedicated vehicle charging, and long-distance highway charging. Public charging stations and dedicated charging terminals are the fastest-growing segments. Downstream users are more concerned with charging speed, electricity prices, network coverage, and intelligent dispatch capabilities. Therefore, charging networks with high site density, high equipment availability, and low maintenance costs are more competitive. With the increasing penetration rate of electric logistics vehicles, ride-hailing vehicles, and sanitation vehicles, the demand for high-reliability DC fast charging from dedicated fleets continues to rise, while high-speed charging networks also exhibit strong inelastic demand due to increased cross-regional travel frequency.
