Ethylhexyl Triazone (EHT) is an oil-soluble organic ultraviolet filter with CAS No. 88122-99-0 and belongs to the triazine-class UVB sunscreen agents. Its molecular structure contains three conjugated p-aminobenzoate chromophores, enabling highly efficient absorption of ultraviolet radiation in the approximately 280–320 nm range, with a maximum absorption wavelength of around 314 nm. It features high UV absorption efficiency, excellent photostability, strong water resistance, and low skin penetration.
The product is generally supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. It is primarily dissolved in the oil phase of sunscreen formulations and is insoluble or only slightly soluble in water. It is commonly combined with UVA filters and other UVB filters to improve the SPF value and photostability of sunscreen products. Its principal applications include sunscreen cream, sunscreen lotion, skincare product, makeup product, and other personal care formulation. It is currently one of the core functional ingredients used in high-efficiency UVB protection systems.
The upstream supply chain for Ethylhexyl Triazone primarily involves cyanuric chloride and ethylhexyl p-aminobenzoate as the key raw materials.
