They primarily remove arsine (AsH₃) from gaseous or liquid hydrocarbon streams via chemisorption while simultaneously removing phosphine (PH₃), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), and carbonyl sulfide (COS). By reducing impurity levels to the ppb range, they protect downstream catalysts used in selective hydrogenation, polymerization, and precious metal-based processes.
    The upstream segment of the industry chain comprises copper sources (e.g., copper oxide, copper nitrate, basic copper carbonate), supports (e.g., activated alumina, silica-alumina materials), composite components (e.g., zinc oxide, manganese oxide), and additives such as binders, pore-forming agents, and molding aids. Midstream enterprises manufacture the fixed-bed products through processes including impregnation, co-precipitation, aging, drying, calcination, and shaping (into spheres, tablets, or extrudates). Downstream applications are concentrated in oil refining, steam cracking, FCC, MTO/MTP, and polyolefin units; these agents are typically installed upstream of selective hydrogenation or polymerization catalysts, and spent products are generally disposed of as arsenic-containing hazardous waste.
