In commercial practice, it is most commonly used as an open-cell, flexible foam for electrostatic discharge protection, conductive cushioning, or EMI grounding/shielding, although rigid or semi-rigid conductive polyurethane foams also exist for specialized structural or shielding applications.
    From the upstream perspective, the core raw-material system of conductive polyurethane foam consists of polyols and isocyanates, together with foam-formulation auxiliaries such as blowing agents, catalysts, surfactants, stabilizers, chain extenders/crosslinkers, and, critically, conductive components. In industrial products, the conductivity is commonly introduced through carbon-based systems (such as carbon black, graphite, graphene, and carbon nanotubes), conductive latex or carbon/acrylic impregnation systems, metal-based conductive fillers, or hybrid conductive systems. From the downstream perspective, conductive polyurethane foam is mainly used in ESD protective packaging, electronic component holding and pin-insertion media, EMI/RFI shielding and grounding gaskets, flexible pressure/strain sensing materials, and industrial conductive sealing, cushioning, and vibration-management parts.
