Generally, the conversion efficiency is about 5-8%. Old devices based on the Seebeck effect use bimetallic junctions and are very bulky. More recent devices use semiconductor PN junctions made of bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3), lead telluride (PbTe) [1], manganese calcium oxide, or a combination of the above components according to temperature [2]. These solid-state devices are different from generators in that they have no moving parts except for additional fans or pumps.
